'ADDING MARCUSE' TO EQUITABLE DEVELOPMENT APPROACHES: COMBATING DISPLACEMENT

The following essay by Julie Mah and Emma Clayton Jones is the last in a trilogy derived from presentations at the Association of Collegiate Schools of Planning 59th Annual Conference in Buffalo, New York. Last year, two essays written by Sam Stein and Fei Li, respectively, described how planning impacted housing affordability in New York City and London. Theoretically grounded in the work of Peter Marcuse, Mah and Jones interface with the essays by Stein and Li and illuminate upon actions intended to bring about equitable development in Toronto while considering who (as well as the manner of derived) benefits from the agency of professional planners.
